Star of stage, screen, and a great number of recordings, Debbie Reynolds has been one of my favorites since I first saw her in the Unsinkable Molly Brown during a big screen film festival. I finally got to see her in person a number of years ago in Atlantic City at Resorts and then again more recently during one of her Coast Casino stints here in Vegas. For kitsch value alone, Debbie is worth seeing. To say she comes across on stage as a bitter drunk would be putting it lightly. The thing is, like rubbernecking during an accident, it was an amazingly fun evening. The last show we saw included a fabulous montage of Debbie’s film and television times. The audience applauds for their favorites and from the amount of applause that goes on it’s obvious that the others in attendance love this aging movie queen as much as I do. It’s interesting to hear the story of her life and loves, knowing how many poor relationship choices Ms. Reynolds has made throughout her life. If you want to see someone who goes on, who is still here despite it all, get your tickets quick. |
